Soiree History
'Twas the History of Jesse's Holiday Soiree
'Twas the holiday season of 1992,
a tradition was sparked, at the time, who knew?
Lights, food, friends and fun is how it began;
while some things changed, taco dip is always in the plan.
What began in high school, throughout college it grew,
continuing traditions and each year adding something new.
Through Michigan, Washington, Connecticut it was on the move,
in each location, it found a new groove.
Lasagna was added in a place called Seattle,
I once tried to remove it, the guests brought me a battle!
In the few years we've missed I assure you good reason,
the party always returns, an important part of the season.
Over the years the event continued with vigor,
often becoming bigger and bigger.
Two platters of taco dip the party does now require,
and many more decorations the party goers admire.
More people, more everything, my how it's grown,
the soiree has taken on a life of its own.
And now we arrive to the year 2020,
our 28th year, we've had parties a plenty.
Lights, food, friends and fun is still at the core,
the addition of charity ('11) has made it mean more.
Though COVID has tried to completely negate us,
you have my promise this is only a brief hiatus!
