The Big Tree

"The Big Tree" is our tallest tree at 15.5 feet tall. It uses incandescent clear mini-lights which it came pre-strung with, and is then overlaid with pixels. Each pixel is an RGB LED light capable of producing over 16 million different colors and each individual pixel can be independently controlled via computer to produce a practically infinite combination of effects.

The ornaments on the tree (and the garland on the railing) are intentionally kept to a palette of silver and white in order to better reflect and complement the color changing ability of the pixel lighting. Reindeer, polar bears, stars, oversized ornaments, and poinsettias cover the tree with a pair of polar bears clinging to the top branch as the tree topper.

At the base, the tree sits on a sturdy, rolling platform for ease of maintenance, construction, and cleaning. The tree stand and base are covered by a custom made tree skirt of white faux fur.

As a thank you to our donors I wanted to do something extra-special. Many of them are tied to Disney in some way shape or form....Cast Members, frequent Guests, movie fans, etc. So please enjoy a tribute to Epcot's recent past in our newest video of the Big Tree....

It's tricky to capture the feeling of a big tree show effectively without being there, so to try and show everything happening around you, this video uses picture in picture to show what's happening on the railing garlands on the other side of the room from the tree. Enjoy!...
